Camping Your Way: From Beach Days to Via Ferratas

Camping isn’t one-size-fits-all. It can be pure beach chill or high-altitude via ferratas—plus hiking, kayaking, cycling, culture, and stargazing. Pick your style and plan smarter.

    One word, many trips

Camping can mean a towel on warm sand or a harness on a steel cable. Use this guide to match your trip style with the right campsite, gear, and daily plan.

    Pick your vibe

  1. Beach & Chill: walkable beach, shade, showers, late checkout; bring reef-safe sunscreen, quick-dry towels, sun shelter.
  2. Hike & Trail: mountain/base camps near trailheads, topo maps/GPX, trekking poles; start at dawn.
  3. Via Ferrata & Vertical: choose mountain camps close to routes; rent or carry EN 958 via ferrata set, helmet, harness, gloves, stiff shoes.
  4. Water & Wind: lakes/sea for SUP, kayak, kitesurf; look for ramps, gear rental, and wind windows.
  5. Bike & Gravel: greenways from camp, secure bike storage, repair stand, laundromat.
  6. Culture & Food: city-edge municipals or resort-style camps with transit access; evening markets and restaurants.
  7. Stars & Silence: remote, low-light grounds; red headlamp, star app, warm layers.

  8. Match campsite to activity

  9. Seaside resort (5★): pools + beach access → perfect for mixed families (relax + kid clubs).
  10. Lakeside campground: SUP/kayak mornings, bike loops in the afternoon.
  11. Mountain base: near lifts/trails/ferratas; check altitude nights and storm protocols.
  12. Municipal/aire: efficient for city breaks, quick service days, and budget loops.
  13. Farm stay: quiet sunsets, local food, easy kid space between active days.

  14. Mini itineraries you can copy

  15. Beach & Culture Weekend (3 days): Day 1 arrive → sunset swim; Day 2 beach a.m., city walk p.m.; Day 3 brunch + lazy checkout.
  16. Hike + Ferrata (4 days): D1 warm-up hike; D2 via ferrata (B/C grade) morning, lake swim p.m.; D3 panoramic hike; D4 café + drive out.
  17. Family Mix (5 days): 2 days resort pools, 1 day short hike/picnic, 1 day bike path, 1 day boat/SUP.

  18. Safety & etiquette (fast checklist)

  19. Weather first: thunder = no ferrata; check local bulletins.
  20. Grading: start with easy ferratas (A–B/C). Helmets for all.
  21. Hydration & sun: 2–3 L per person on trails; shade breaks at the beach.
  22. Rules: wild stays only where legal; Leave No Trace; service grey/black water at points.

  23. Compact gear lists

  24. Beach: sun shelter, UV shirt, sandals, dry bag, after-sun.
  25. Hike: 20–30 L pack, poles, map/GPX + power bank, layers, headlamp.
  26. Ferrata: EN 958 set, UIAA helmet, harness, gloves, sturdy shoes, 1–2 screw carabiners, 20–30 L pack.
  27. Water: PFD, leash (SUP), whistle, neoprene (shoulder seasons).
  28. Bike: lock, lights, multitool, chain lube, basic spares.

  29. VATRA tip

    Plan days like a wave: high-effort (ferrata/hike) → low-effort (beach/SUP) → culture/food → repeat. Everyone stays happy and rested.
